listening to daniel (three times runing) as he talked about the tabernacle.
that word, tabernacle. it's the tent, the temporary dwelling, the place where God let us put Him in a box.
the concept of "sanctuary" not in the sense of being a holy place but of being a SAFE place, fascinates.
God put Himself in a box so that humans could have a safe way to relate to Him. instead of coming to Him dressed in riot gear, as annie dillard suggested, He removes Himself from His own power in a sense, limits Himself, so that the human who enters the sanctuary, the holy place, finds also that it is a safe place, a protection from the very God who invites him there.
sometime i'll develop this concept. not tonight. going to oklahoma to see an amazing guy graduate from boot camp. another story, another flight, another series of interconnected circles of life.
lynnette called from iowa. amazing. amazing grace has clobbered the bunch of them and they hardly kmow how to take it except to work harder, good guilty calvinism being what it is. they are awash in joy and grace and gratitude and wonder.
sometimes the story comes out so right we have to go back and read it again to make sure we're not missing something.
but no, it's just grace. Capon would be proud.
