not because there is nothing to say but that there is so much to say and so little time to put it to e-paper.
a weekend spent with a wonderful array of little people, aged 1-13, and their various family members who can drive. so much to be learned from little people, and it is so easy to focus on those wasteful adult-oriented details when there is more important stuff to do. like run up and down and take tight corners that nearly guarantee a fall. at two, that's just the regular challenge of life. at my age, it's mild panic with arms outstretched to catch a fall that doesn't happen as you yourself careen wildly behind this little person whose speed to leg length ratio is astounding.
meeting littler folk who turned my driveway into art, once again. i can't get enough of that. ephemeral art, perfect for the occasion, washed away by the hose. process, not product.
but special thanks to Luke for the "welcome to pizza family night" inscription and the pizza drawings of his sister Samantha. the string of arrrows on the driveway which made it abundantly clear where one should turn in were also helpful. not to mention inspiring to Lily, who then, as she left, drew exit arrows. i can see that these kids have a gift for flowcharts already.
today, joy of joys...to see two people who had fallen off the face of my planet, beset by drugs and a lack of meds (yeah, that sounds like a balance but it wasn't working)...people for whom i'd prayed recently kind of an "owell, giving up" kind of prayer...and THERE THEY WERE, sitting in church, "clothed and in their right mind" as the KJV says of the Gadarene. looking absolutely beautiful. Stunningly healthy and whole. i'm sorry, maybe i'm a little too pentecostal, but THAT makes me want to shout HALLELUJAH!!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
and then to pray with dear Donna, in whose life and in the life of whose relative, God is about to do a great work...it was such an obvious, "put together by the Father" situation that is was , well, as Tim Smith would have said, "Gleeful!"
and all of this joy after the distinct and exciting privilege of praying with a small group for a young person we'll call miki...whom we met on wednesday night and whose needs are painfully apparent, but who is trying trying trying to be what's possible...at this point, that is a confusing picture....but God.
you know how He just LOVES TO LOVE the ones that don't look so lovely today. He is SO into NOT GIVING UP on people we finally think are just beyond every hope. HE IS HOPE. HE IS LOVE. AND HE WILL HAVE THE LAST WORD!!!
there aren't enough WOOHOOs left in me to fill up the page; the old lady is tired. but what a delightful tired! GOD IS AT WORK and WE GET TO COME ALONG ON THE E TICKET RIDE!!! this IS the GREAT ADVENTURE! and if you don't know what i mean, you need to find out. outside of your own self there is joy beyond compare!
