apologies

occasionally, a person will tell me that they are reading this blog. now, it would seem that if i put the blog address in my signature line on my email, i'm inviting people to read my blog, albeit in a slightly sidewise manner. but it alternately alarms and embarrasses me that people are reading what i've written. you see, the "delightful irony," as Tony would say, is that i have written for years and years and my writing has been read by lots of people (thousands?); however, that writing was rarely if ever credited to me. this was a small burr under my saddle at times, but the price one pays (along with the joys of being edited into oblivion) for getting paid to write as i was. and here i am, writing whatever the diddlysquat i'd like, and having opportunity to take full credit (or blame) for it--and it makes me uncomfortable. (the therapist rises up to say, "why? because it might not be perfect?!")
so let this be a blanket apology to all those who might read this blog at times: if you don't like it, if it's below your standards or above your expectations, deal with it. this is the digital age!
